This guide explains how to connect your Redcloud account to Mozilla Thunderbird.

Because Redcloud uses secure Keycloak login, Thunderbird cannot use your normal Redcloud sign-in directly for mail, calendar, and contacts.

You must first create an app password and then use that app password in Thunderbird.

Before you start

You need:

• your Redcloud email address
• your normal Redcloud login password
• Thunderbird installed on your computer
• access to your Redcloud account at redcloud.be

Step 1. Log in to Redcloud

1. Open your browser

2. Go to https://redcloud.be

3. Sign in with your normal Redcloud username and password

Step 2. Create an app password

1. After signing in, open your account settings

2. Go to Security

3. Find App passwords

4. Click Create new app password

5. Enter a name, for example: Thunderbird

6. Click Create

7. Copy the generated app password

Important:

• save this password immediately
• this is the password you will use in Thunderbird
• do not use your normal Redcloud login password in Thunderbird

Step 3. Open Thunderbird

1. Start Thunderbird

2. If this is your first account, click Email

3. If Thunderbird is already set up, open Account Settings and choose Add Mail Account

Step 4. Enter your account details

Fill in the fields:

Your name
Enter the name you want people to see

Email address
Enter your full Redcloud email address

Password
Paste the app password you created in Redcloud

Then click Continue

Step 5. Confirm the mail settings

Thunderbird may detect the settings automatically.
If it does not, enter them manually.

Incoming mail

Server: mail.redcloud.be
Protocol: IMAP
Port: 993
Security: SSL/TLS
Authentication: Normal password
Username: your full email address

Outgoing mail

Server: mail.redcloud.be
Protocol: SMTP
Port: 587
Security: STARTTLS
Authentication: Normal password
Username: your full email address

Then click Done

Thunderbird will now connect to your Redcloud mailbox.

Step 6. Check your email folders

After setup, you should see your mailbox folders in Thunderbird, such as:

• Inbox
• Sent
• Drafts
• Junk
• Trash

Send a test email to confirm that sending and receiving both work.

Step 7. Add your Redcloud calendar

1. In Thunderbird, open the Calendar tab

2. Click New Calendar

3. Select On the Network

4. Click Next

5. Choose CalDAV

6. In the location field, enter:

https://redcloud.be/remote.php/dav

1. Click Next

2. When asked for login details, enter:

Username
Your full Redcloud email address

Password
Your Redcloud app password

1. Thunderbird should find your available calendars

2. Select the calendar you want to use

3. Click Subscribe

Your Redcloud calendar will now appear in Thunderbird.

Step 8. Add your Redcloud contacts

Thunderbird can handle contacts through CardDAV.

1. Open the Address Book

2. Click New Address Book

3. Choose Add CardDAV Address Book
   If your Thunderbird version shows different wording, choose the option for a remote or CardDAV address book

4. Enter the server address:

https://redcloud.be/remote.php/dav

1. Enter your username:

your full Redcloud email address

1. Enter your password:

your Redcloud app password

1. Continue to the next step

2. Thunderbird should discover your available address books

3. Select the address book you want to use

4. Finish the setup

Your Redcloud contacts will now synchronize with Thunderbird.

Important note about passwords

Redcloud uses Keycloak for secure login.

That means:

• your normal Redcloud website password is for logging in on the web
• your app password is for Thunderbird and other mail apps
• you can create a separate app password for each device or application

This is the recommended and most reliable setup.

Troubleshooting

Thunderbird keeps asking for a password

Check these points:

• you are using the app password, not your normal login password
• you entered your full email address as the username
• there are no extra spaces when copying the password

Email works but calendar or contacts do not

Check that the server URL is exactly:

https://redcloud.be/remote.php/dav

Also make sure you used the same:

• full email address
• app password

Thunderbird does not detect the mail settings automatically

Enter the settings manually:

Incoming server: mail.redcloud.be
Port: 993
Security: SSL/TLS

Outgoing server: mail.redcloud.be
Port: 587
Security: STARTTLS

I created the account but something still fails

Delete the saved password in Thunderbird and enter the app password again.
A copied password with an extra space is a common cause.
