How to Set Up Your Mail Account on Android and iPhone

This guide explains how to configure your email account on Android and iPhone using IMAP and SMTP.

Mail Server Settings

Use the following settings:

Incoming mail (IMAP)

  • Server: mail.redcloud.be

  • Port: 993

  • Security: SSL/TLS

  • Authentication: Required

  • Username: Your full email address

  • Password: Your email password

Outgoing mail (SMTP)

  • Server: mail.redcloud.be

  • Port: 587

  • Security: STARTTLS

  • Authentication: Required

  • Username: Your full email address

  • Password: Your email password


Set Up on Android

These steps apply to most Android devices using the default Gmail app. We strongly advise you to use Thunderbird (see below) for better security and privacy.

Step 1: Open Account Settings

  1. Open the Gmail app.

  2. Tap your profile picture (top right).

  3. Tap Add another account.

  4. Choose Other.

Step 2: Enter Your Email Address

  1. Enter your full email address.

  2. Tap Manual setup (if available).

  3. Select IMAP.

Step 3: Configure Incoming Mail (IMAP)

Enter the following:

  • Username: your full email address

  • Password: your email password

  • Server: mail.redcloud.be

  • Port: 993

  • Security type: SSL/TLS

Tap Next.

Step 4: Configure Outgoing Mail (SMTP)

Enter the following:

  • SMTP server: mail.redcloud.be

  • Port: 587

  • Security type: STARTTLS

  • Require sign-in: enabled

  • Username: your full email address

  • Password: your email password

Tap Next.

Step 5: Finish Setup

  1. Adjust sync settings if needed.

  2. Tap Next.

  3. Enter your name (display name for outgoing mail).

  4. Tap Done.

Your account is now configured.


Set Up on Android Using Thunderbird

You can also use Thunderbird for Android to configure your email account.

Step 1: Install Thunderbird

  1. Open the Google Play Store.

  2. Search for Thunderbird: Free Your Inbox.

  3. Install the app.

  4. Open Thunderbird.

Step 2: Add a New Account

  1. Tap Get Started or Add Account.

  2. Enter your full email address.

  3. Enter your email password.

  4. Tap Manual Setup.

Step 3: Configure Incoming Mail (IMAP)

Select IMAP and enter:

  • Server: mail.redcloud.be

  • Port: 993

  • Security: SSL/TLS

  • Authentication: Password

  • Username: your full email address

Tap Next.

Step 4: Configure Outgoing Mail (SMTP)

Enter:

  • SMTP Server: mail.redcloud.be

  • Port: 587

  • Security: STARTTLS

  • Authentication: Password

  • Username: your full email address

Tap Next.

Step 5: Finish Setup

  1. Choose sync settings if required.

  2. Set your display name.

  3. Tap Done.

Your email account is now configured in Thunderbird on Android.

If you experience issues:

  • Confirm your password is correct.

  • Make sure the username is your full email address.

  • Verify IMAP uses port 993 with SSL/TLS.

  • Verify SMTP uses port 587 with STARTTLS and authentication enabled.


Set Up on iPhone (iOS)

Step 1: Open Mail Settings

  1. Open Settings.

  2. Tap Mail.

  3. Tap Accounts.

  4. Tap Add Account.

  5. Choose Other.

  6. Tap Add Mail Account.

Step 2: Enter Basic Information

Enter:

  • Name: Your display name

  • Email: Your full email address

  • Password: Your email password

  • Description: Optional

Tap Next.

Step 3: Select IMAP

Make sure IMAP is selected at the top.

Step 4: Enter Incoming Mail Server Details

  • Host Name: mail.redcloud.be

  • Username: your full email address

  • Password: your email password

Step 5: Enter Outgoing Mail Server Details

  • Host Name: mail.redcloud.be

  • Username: your full email address

  • Password: your email password

Tap Next.

If asked:

  • IMAP Port: 993

  • Use SSL: enabled

  • SMTP Port: 587

  • Use SSL: disabled

  • Authentication: Password

  • TLS/STARTTLS: enabled

Step 6: Save

Tap Save.

Your email account is now ready to use.


Troubleshooting

If setup fails:

  • Verify your password is correct.

  • Ensure the username is your full email address.

  • Check that IMAP uses port 993 with SSL.

  • Check that SMTP uses port 587 with STARTTLS.

  • Make sure authentication is enabled for SMT
